Taste Trails | The lower Val di Sole, with its history, art and flavours
A passo lento lungo il fiume Noce assaporando il territorio
This magical itinerary runs along the Noce river in the lower stretches of the Val di Sole and is characterised by lush forests and apple cultivations. The route starts in the town of Croviana, where honey-lovers can enjoy a visit to the MMape - Mulino Museo dell'Ape, literally the Bee Museum Mill, and makes its way to the centre of the town where we can pay a visit to the delicatessen La Bottega del Pinelo before moving on towards Malè, the largest town in the valley and cradle of the ancient Solandra civilisation. After a tasty stop at the Cercen cheese dairy in Terzolas, the route continues to Samoclevo. At the Agritur Solasna farmstead in the San Giacomo area it’s possible to take part in a short trek in the company of the farm’s donkeys before heading back for some refreshments and to spend the night. On the second day those who wish can head off to the village of Tozzaga, for a visit to the Pedergnana Ettore farm and a taste of their home-made salamis and cold cuts. The route then continues along the old irrigation canal, "la Lec", as far as Bozzana, an area known for the remains of numerous military trenches and fortifications. Crossing the Noce River, we take the famous Val di Sole cycle-pedestrian path as far as Contre, a green oasis overlooking the Noce River. Those who wish can climb up to the old centre of Caldes to visit its ancient castle. Returning to the river, we continue along the cycle-pedestrian path to Regazzini, where we can enjoy an excellent lunch at the Osteria del Bosco tavern and, for those with children, have some fun at the nearby Flying Park. From here we can reach the industrial area of Malè for a visit to the Fattore Legno Museum and perhaps get our hands on some jams and juices at Gustonatura. From here we make our way back to the starting point.
