A trip to the foot of the Brenta Dolomites, with tasty scents and flavors
Our day begins in the beautiful village of Spormaggiore, where we meet Gualtiero, owner of Castel Belfort Apiculture. With him, we discover the fantastic and hard-working world of bees; we are so fascinated by it that we gladly taste all types of honey! After the visit, we travel just a few kilometres and reach Quetta di Campodenno; here, Michele, owner of the farm Azienda Agricola Naturalmente explains to us who medicinal plants are grown and harvested. We have the embarrassment of riches, in having to choose from a wide range of infusions and herbal teas.
At lunch time, we reach the village of Sporminore; here, at Agritur Sandro, we cannot resist the most typical traditional dish, potato “tortei” paired with cold cuts, local cheese and cabbage. After lunch, what's better than a good shot of Trentino grappa? We do not miss the opportunity and head to the nearby village of Campodenno to visit Distilleria Piezzi.
We continue our climb to the right of the Noce River until we reach the village of Tuenno, where we pay a visit to the Caseificio Sociale Tovel dairy. We try Trentingrana, fresh ricotta cheese and Nostrano cheese; it is very difficult to choose what to purchase because these cheeses are truly exquisite. Being in Tuenno, during the May to November period, a visit to the nearby Lake Tovel is a must. One of the naturalistic jewels of the Adamello Brenta Nature Park, the lake is the largest natural body of water in Trentino and is located in the northern part of the Brenta Dolomites.
The walk to Tovel made us feel somewhat hungry and, therefore, we decide to go for a tasty dinner. We can go back to the road that led us here, stopping at Ristorante Pizzeria Centrale di Flavon. You will not be disappointed!
