WINES, NATURE AND CULTURE | TASTING TOURS

A short but intense tour to discover the most typical wine productions of Trentino in an ideal path that leads from Lake Garda to Val di Cembra and Vallagarina, arriving in Piana Rotaliana, passing through the hills of Trento. From visit to visit, the 5 “testimonial” wines will be unveiled, namely Marzemino, Nosiola, Trentodoc, Müller Thurgau and Teroldego Rotaliano. To enhance the tasting experience, traditional dishes will be revisited with a modern and appealing twist.

 

DAY 1 - VALLAGARINA AND VALLE DEI LAGHI |MARZEMINO, NOSIOLA AND VINO SANTO

Our tour begins in Vallagarina, the southern gate to Trentino, which features small villages, castles and, above all, vineyards. We will immediately begin with a visit to a Marzemino winery, a wine symbol of the land, celebrated by Mozart in Don Giovanni, then dive into guided tasting in a wine bar in Isera, and end our morning with lunch in one of the most distinctive restaurants of the area.

In the afternoon, we head to Lake Garda, with a stop in Nago, its natural panoramic terrace that allows admiring the entire northern area of the lake. Next up, we go to Valle dei Laghi to visit small farms producing the native Nosiola and discover the fascinating history of Vino Santo, a precious straw wine produced only in Trentino. At sunset, we prepare for a romantic evening at Lake Toblino, to admire the famous Renaissance castle that is reflected in lake’s waters. Finally, dinner at one of the local restaurants where we can taste some of the most typical dishes of the Garda area tradition. Overnight stay in a Trento accommodation facility.

 DAY 2 - CITY CENTER AND HILL OF TRENTO | TRENTODOC

Second day to the discovery of Trento and above all Trentodoc, the classic Trentino method par excellence born in the early twentieth-century by the intuition of Giulio Ferrari. After a rich breakfast with Trentino products, visit to a large Trentodoc winery. Following is a tour of the Council city's historical centre with a walk through its sixteenth-century streets, frescoed palaces and most glamorous shops and an inviting Trentodoc-themed aperitif in one of the city centre’s bars, with lunch in one of the historical restaurants that animate the regional capital.

Afternoon in the name of science, with a visit to the MUSE-Museum of Natural Sciences, designed by architect Renzo Piano, and gastronomy with a stop at a shop of typical products. Next up, visit to one of the small farms on the hills surrounding the regional capital, to taste a refined selection of spumante produced with the classic Trentodoc method. Dinner at one of the restaurants in Trento, surrounded by the charm of the city suburbs. Overnight stay in a local accommodation facility.

DAY 3 - VAL DI CEMBRA AND  PIANA ROTALIANA | MUELLER THURGAU AND MARZEMINO

Our morning begins with a visit to Val di Cembra, in the north-eastern area of ​​Trento, known worldwide for its porphyry extraction and the fascinating terraced vineyards where the Müller Thurgau grapes, which found their natural cradle here, are cultivated. After a visit to one of the small farms in the area, we stroll through the vineyards to enjoy the view of narrow roads and dry stone walls that, for their peculiarities, also captured the attention of the famous painter Dürer. Lunch at a restaurant in the hills around Lavis, to admire the vineyards of Piana Rotaliana, called “the most beautiful vineyard garden in Europe” and the absolute protagonist of our afternoon programme.

We continue with a stop to a winery in Mezzocorona or Mezzolombardo to meet the Teroldego Rotaliano, prince of Trentino wines and first DOC recognized in the province's productive history, and then dive into history, with a visit to the Museum of Customs and Traditions of the People of Trentino, in San Michele all'Adige. Finally, dinner at one of the many typical facilities of Piana Rotaliana.
